A 27-year-old man was arrested on Thursday for killing his live-in partner by giving her abortion pills in Chhattisgarh’s Raigarh district, police said.
Danish Khan alias Sameer Hasan of Indira Nagar area in the city was arrested under Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Indian Penal Code, Superintendent of Police Abhinav Upadhyay said.
The incident came to light when the woman died during treatment at a hospital in Bilaspur on March 8, he said.
The police learnt that the couple lived together in a rented room near the Medical College in Chakradhar Nagar area, the officer added.
Khan, who was already married, lured the victim into a relationship by promising to marry her, the official said.
The parents of the woman alleged that the accused gave abortion pills without consulting doctors. A court sent Khan to prison.
