Work to eliminate malnutrition among children in State: Secy

Secretary, Women and Child Development and Social Security department, Kripa Nand Jha today said that children are the future of the family, State and the country. Saving children from malnutrition is the priority of the state government. The department is working with full readiness, awareness and commitment to save children from malnutrition. The state has to work towards making malnutrition free at all costs.

“Provide quality nutritious food to children in Anganwadi centers of the state. Implement with commitment all the schemes run by the department for the physical and mental development of the children. Identify malnourished children and women suffering from anaemia in the state by conducting a survey and health workers prepare data by conducting their medical checkup,” he said in the meeting of the State Monitoring and Implementation Committee at Project Bhawan Complex Auditorium on Wednesday.

Even after 22 years of formation of Jharkhand state, Jharkhand is surrounded by a big disaster of malnutrition. According to the latest National Family Health Survey 5, most of the children of Jharkhand are suffering from malnutrition. Anaemia affects 69 per cent of children and 65 per cent of women. Efforts have been started by the government to improve the health of mothers, children and adolescent girls of the state with a grand campaign against malnutrition and anaemia. 'Samar Abhiyan' The aim of this campaign is to identify children and women suffering from severe malnutrition and anemia and treat them. As well as providing adequate and nutritious food. The government is very serious about this campaign.

Rajeshwari B, Director General, Jharkhand State Nutrition Mission, directed the officials of the department to speed up the work progress of the summer campaign scheme. In the meeting, the departmental secretary informed that through this campaign, the system is being ensured to provide services in a time-bound manner, to create concrete and intensive monitoring and intervention infrastructure.

In the meeting, Director General State Nutrition Mission also gave necessary guidelines while reviewing the status of weight measurement of children registered in all Anganwadi centers district wise. Get all children registered in Anganwadi centers weighed and ensure malnourished/severely malnourished children are admitted to MTC.

In the meeting, a detailed discussion was held on IC for successful implementation of the scheme. The secretary said that the scheme should be firmly implemented in the state through publicity.

In the meeting, Director General of Jharkhand State Nutrition Mission Rajeshwari B, Director Social Welfare Chhavi Ranjan, Under Secretary Arshad Jamal, Chief Medical Officer-cum-Civil Surgeon and other officials of the concerned district were present.
