Xavier Institute of Tribal Education (XITE) College extended a warm and enthusiastic welcome to its incoming batch of students through a dynamic Freshers’ Orientation Program held from 1st September to 6th September, 2023. The program, meticulously coordinated by Dr. Sanchita Ghosh Chowdhury and Prof. Akinchan Xaxa, aimed to familiarize the newcomers with the institution and create a welcoming atmosphere.

The orientation journey commenced on a traditional note with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by an interreligious prayer session, expertly coordinated by Dr. Radha Mahali, a faculty member at XITE College. Dr. (Fr.) Mukti Clarence, S.J., Vice-Principal of XITE College, delivered a heartfelt welcome speech. Faculty members then introduced themselves to the students, setting the stage for an interactive and enlightening session on Mental Health, presented by representatives from JEEVAN, an NGO dedicated to mental health awareness.

Day 2 was marked by a lively ice-breaking session led by  Anthony Castleton, a renowned motivational speaker. Prof. Amit Chaturvedi, a faculty member at XITE College, engaged the students in a thought-provoking discussion on ‘Value-Based Thoughts and Actions.’ A virtual college tour was followed by a comprehensive session on Academic Overview and Advising, led by Dr. Sanchita Ghosh Chowdhury.

The third day began with an engaging and enjoyable session on ‘Effective Communication Skills,’ led by Prof. Akinchan Xaxa, another esteemed faculty member at XITE College.  Akshit Anand, an XITE alumnus and Executive at CIO Tyres, shared his valuable insights with the students. The day concluded on a high note with an invigorating ‘Zumba’ session conducted by the dynamic 'Zin Zumba Community.'

On Day 4, the students embarked on a visit to XLRI Jamshedpur, where they were treated to a tour of the prestigious institute and the opportunity to interact with experts from various fields.

The final day of the orientation program focused on raising awareness about the various cells and clubs active within the college, including the Internal Complaints Committee, the Anti-sexual Harassment Cell, and the Institute’s Innovation Council, among others. The program culminated with a heartfelt 'Vote of Thanks' to express gratitude to all participants and facilitators.

The Freshers’ Orientation Program garnered strong attendance over all five days, and the students' enthusiasm remained consistently high throughout the sessions. The program successfully introduced the newcomers to the institution's values, resources, and support systems, setting a positive tone for their academic journey at XITE College.
