Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid tribute to the founding member of Bharatiya Jan Sangh, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, on his 107th birth anniversary and offered floral tributes at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s statue in Lucknow on Monday.
Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s ideals, deeply rooted in the welfare and development of the most marginalised individuals in society, were vividly recalled by the chief minister. He said the present BJP-led government, guided by the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was committed to fulfilling the dreams of Deendayal Upadhaya.
He also hailed Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya as a staunch advocate for purity and honesty in politics.
Yogi said that Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya was born in a humble village in Mathura district and possessed a clear perspective on India and Indianness.
“He believed in India’s potential to contribute to global well-being and placed unwavering emphasis on the welfare of the most marginalised in society,” the chief minister said.
Yogi stressed that economic progress should not be gauged by the person in the highest echelons of society but rather by those in the lowest rungs. Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s concept of ‘Antyodaya’ became a cornerstone for ensuring the welfare of the underprivileged in independent India.
The chief minister highlighted that the government under the leadership of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, during 1998 to 2004, initiated several schemes aimed at the welfare of the poor, drawing inspiration from Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya. “Today, the guiding light behind all schemes implemented during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tenure is rooted in Pandit Deendayal’s vision of ‘Antyodaya.’ The transformative progress witnessed in the country over the past 9.5 years owes much to Deendayal Upadhaya’s visionary approach,” he said.
The commemorative event saw the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Minister Swatantradev Singh, BJP city President Anand Dwivedi, Sushma Kharkwal, Neeraj Bora, Mukesh Sharma, Jai Devi, Ramchandra Pradhan, Nirmal, Mayor Sanyukta Bhatia and Neeraj Singh, among others.
