Advancement of outer ring road to boost connectivity

Wednesday, 02 October 2024 | PNS | Lucknow

The Uttar Pradesh government has initiated the advancement of the four-lane outer ring road construction in Lucknow, a major infrastructure project aimed at boosting connectivity in the region.

A 14.28-kilometre stretch from Raitha underpass to PM Mitra Park will be expanded into a four-lane road.

Additionally, the Raitha underpass located on the outer ring road from IIM will undergo rejuvenation, including widening and strengthening for 8.4 kilometres to make it a two-lane road. These projects, which will cost Rs 139.56 crore, are set to enhance regional infrastructure.

The state government has released funds for these works, and a detailed action plan has been laid out.

The Public Works Department, under the guidance of the chief engineer (development) and the head of the department, will oversee the construction.

These upgrades are expected to significantly improve access to PM Mitra Park, which is being developed in Attari village, Malihabad, through a public-private partnership. Once operational, the mega textile park is projected to create employment for one lakh people, further boosting the local economy.

Designed with future connectivity needs in mind, the park’s location offers excellent access to key highways, railways, and air routes. Attari village is situated 20 kilometres from NH-20 and SH-20, both four-lane roads connecting Lucknow with Sitapur and Hardoi.

In addition, the park benefits from proximity to a six-lane outer ring road and strong rail links, with Malihabad railway station just 16 kilometres away, and Lucknow railway station 40 kilometres away.

The park is also strategically located 45 kilometres from Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow, with further access to the Dedicated Freight Corridor at Kanpur Node, 95 kilometres away, and the Inland Container Depot in Kanpur, 111 kilometres away.
