AIIMS Bhopal inaugurated the orientation program and coursework for the July 2024 Ph.D. batch today. Prof. (Dr) Ajai Singh, Executive Director of AIIMS Bhopal underscored the pivotal role of research in addressing societal challenges.
He articulated that the pursuit of a PhD. should be driven by a commitment to tackling pressing issues that impact communities and improve public health and well-being. Prof. Singh emphasized that while students have the autonomy to select their research areas; this freedom comes with the responsibility to ensure their work aligns with societal needs and contributes meaningfully to their field. He encouraged the new scholars to explore innovative and relevant topics that could lead to significant advancements and practical solutions.
Furthermore, Prof. Singh highlighted the importance of understanding and adhering to the institution's rules and regulations. He stressed that maintaining a high standard of ethical conduct and discipline is crucial for personal and professional growth. He reminded students that ethical integrity and compliance with institutional norms are fundamental to the credibility and impact of their research.
Dr. Rupinde Kaur Kanwar, Associate Dean of Research, provided an overview of the Ph.D. program, outlining the expectations and opportunities available to the students. The program also featured insights from the Dean (Research), Dean (Examination), and Dean (Student Welfare), who discussed the ethical standards, discipline, and the grievance addressing mechanism to support students throughout their journey.
This momentous event marks a significant milestone, as 25 new scholars join the institution's prestigious research community, bringing the total number of Ph.D. students to 69 since the program's inception in June 2019. This orientation marks the beginning of a transformative journey for the new cohort, setting the stage for innovative research and academic excellence.
