In a stellar performance at the TechQuest 4.0 quiz organized by Bhilai Steel Plant on Engineer's Day, the team from Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) emerged as champions. The team from BSL's Gas Utilities department, represented by Rishi Kant Gupta (AGM) and S. W. Kispotta (AGM), clinched the top spot, outshining 70 teams from across Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), including competitors from Rourkela, Durgapur, and Bhilai Steel Plants.
Another Bokaro Steel Plant team, comprising Shubham Verma, Senior Manager, Contract Cell – Works, and Rahul Ranjan Panda, Senior Manager, Hot Strip Mill (HSM), secured third place, making it a proud moment for BSL. Additionally, two more Bokaro teams, one led by Debrata Chowdhury, General Manager, HSM, and Janishar Imam, AGM (SIGS), and the other by Durga Prasad and Nayan Chakraborty (both OCT, DNW), reached the semi-finals, further underscoring Bokaro's strong technical prowess.
TechQuest 4.0, featuring rounds on technical innovations, industry advancements, and general knowledge, was a testament to the intellectual caliber of SAIL employees. The chief guest, Anirban Dasgupta, Director-in-Charge of Bhilai Steel Plant, praised the participants and emphasized the role of such events in promoting technical excellence within SAIL.
The quiz featured a wide range of thought-provoking questions, covering topics such as the development of the Sendzimir Mill (Z-mill) used in steel rolling, crowd-sourced weather monitoring systems, Zomato's weather union initiative, the invention of the coffee filter, and the significant economic impact of rust and corrosion, which amounts to a staggering USD 2.5 trillion globally.0
