Brother of martyred Agniveer joins duty

On Friday afternoon, Balram Mahato, the brother of martyred Agniveer Arjun Mahato from Fatehpur village in Chandan Kiyari block, assumed duty at the district collectorate. He reported to Shalini Khalkho, Senior Officer, at the Collectorate.

Balram Mahato had received his appointment letter on Thursday from the  Chief Minister Hemant Soren during a ceremony at the Jharkhand Secretariat in Ranchi. Along with the appointment letter, the Chief Minister handed over a financial assistance cheque of Rs10 lakh to Balram's mother, Hulasi Devi.

It is worth noting that Agniveer Arjun Mahato, posted in Silchar, Assam, attained martyrdom during an encounter with insurgents on the night of November 21.
