Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai was on Wednesday unanimously elected the new President of the Chhattisgarh Archery Association.
At a General Assembly meeting of the Association held at Sai's residence, he said: "It is a matter of honour to be elected unanimously as the President. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all of you."
The Chief Minister said he has had the opportunity to participate in several events organized by the Association by accompanying Arjun Munda, the President of the National Archery Association.
He commended the Association's diligent efforts in refining the skills of Chhattisgarh's archers, leading to their outstanding performances in national and other competitions.
He said that as someone from the tribal-dominated Jashpur region, he grew up with a bow and arrow – for hunting.
"Archery is a favourite sport among tribal communities in Chhattisgarh. The Pahadi Korwa, a particularly vulnerable tribal group in Jashpur, has been exceptional archers since ancient times, using bows and arrows for hunting”, he said.
