In a major relief to lakhs of people in the development areas of 105 urbanized villages, colonies regularized by Municipal Corporation of Delhi(MCD), the Delhi Development Authority(DDA) has allowed DISCOMs to provide new electricity connections, Raj Niwas said on Tuesday.
Giving details, officials said the move comes after directions from Delhi Lt Governor(LG)V K Saxena, who had received representations from all Delhi MPs, certain MLAs and several Resident Welfare Associations in this regard. Moreover, during the LG’s visits to such areas, this demand had been raised by hundreds of people LG interacted with.
The beneficiaries include whose colonies were regularised
prior to issuance of Land Pooling Regulations, 2018, land allotted to the landless persons under 20 Point Program, Industry / Godown situated in non-conforming industrial area as per MPD-2021, and JJ colonies.
The DDA has allowed for such connections on all lands where DDA or any other government agency has issued NoC in the past or where plans stand approved for development by any government agency.
A decision had earlier been taken in June, 2023, wherein no new connections were to be allowed within the development areas of 105 urbanized villages in the land pooling areas, since authorization for new constructions in these areas were to be issued by DDA subsequent notification of sectors in these areas as per the Land Pooling Policy.
In this order of June, 2023, exemption was given to Lal Dora, extended Lal Dora and PM-UDAY colonies within the land pooling areas.
Certain areas within development area have been reported which have sanction/ prior approval of various government bodies.
The MCD has regularized 567 colonies in Delhi, prior to notification of Land pooling. Some of the colonies are falling in the land pooling area. These colonies were regularized by the MCD prior to the declaration of the notification of the development area.
However, all such colonies which have been regularized by MCD prior to 24.10.2018 (date of notification of the Regulations of 2018) would be cover under above mentioned Para 3 (1) (e) Regulations of 2018.
Also, land allotted to landless person (falling within Land pooling area) under 20 point Programme by the concerned Departments of GNCTD. Such land allotted prior to 24.10.2018 by the GNCTD are also covered under Para 3 (1)(e) Regulations of 2018. In such cases the concerned DISCOM may take up the matter with the concerned Departments of GNCTD, for any clarification.
