Former MP and senior Congress leader Dr. Ajoy Kumar strongly condemned the recent statements made by BJP leader Ravneet Singh Bittu and Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) member Sanjay Gaikwad against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. In a press release issued on Wednesday, Dr. Kumar criticized the BJP, alleging that the party "believes in the politics of violence."
Dr. Kumar asserted that the inflammatory remarks from Bittu and Gaikwad were likely made at the behest of BJP’s central leadership, pointing out that no action has been taken against the leaders thus far. "This political behavior by the BJP is an example of barbarism in democratic history," said Dr. Kumar. He emphasized the importance of preserving non-violence and respectful discourse in Indian politics, which he stated is central to the country's democratic values. He further urged for strict legal action against the leaders responsible for the statements to prevent Indian politics from further deteriorating.
Highlighting the growing support for Rahul Gandhi, Dr. Kumar suggested that the BJP leaders’ frustration stems from their party's electoral defeats and Rahul Gandhi's increasing popularity. "The BJP leaders have become increasingly frustrated with Rahul Gandhi’s ever-growing support base, and that is why they are making such statements," Dr. Kumar said. He noted that these comments have sparked significant outrage among Congress workers nationwide, resulting in protests.
Dr. Kumar concluded by warning the BJP that the people of India are increasingly aware of the "true character and tactics" of the Modi government, predicting that this would have consequences for the BJP in the upcoming assembly elections.
