An eye donation awareness campaign was conducted under the joint aegis of Jharkhand Netra Society, Florence Group of Institutions, Eye Donation Awareness Club and Kashyap Memorial Eye Bank.

Under which, the eye specialists of Kashyap Memorial Eye Hospital explained the importance of eye donation to the trainee nurses, pharma students and other paramedics of Florence Group of Institutions and also told under which circumstances one can donate the eyes of one's family after death and under which circumstances eyes cannot be donated after death.

On this occasion, a rally for eye donation awareness was also taken out by 700 trainee nurses, pharma students, other paramedical and employees of Florence Group of Institutions. Along with this, the eye specialists of Kashyap Memorial Eye Hospital led this rally along with Dr. Shaheen, Director of Florence Group of Institutions. On this occasion, many trainees also filled the affidavit of eye donation.

Dr. Bharti Kashyap, Medical Director, Kashyap Memorial Eye Bank said that Kashyap Memorial Eye Bank has done 920 eye transplants so far, which are more than 80% of the eye transplants done so far in the whole of Jharkhand. So far 80 eye transplants were done in 2024 and 106 eye transplants were done in Kashyap Memorial Eye Bank in 2023, out of those 106 eye transplants, only 38 eye donations were received from local people after death. A large team of cornea specialists is working successfully under the leadership of Dr. Nidhi Gadkar Kashyap.

Dr. Shaheen, Director of Florence Group of Institutions, said that due to lack of awareness and confusion in India, people stay away from eye donation. At the same time, there are people who want to donate eyes, but they do not have the information. In such a situation, this eye donation awareness effort of Florence Group of Institutions and Kashyap Memorial Eye Bank is very commendable and it will continue in the future as well, which will become a big medium to make people aware, remove confusion and inspire people towards eye donation.
