Family members of deceased youth vandalize City Hospital

A private hospital was vandalised and hospital staff was attacked and injured after a youth died during treatment. he was injured in an accident at  Shanti Niketan in Govindpura area on Friday.

There was a massive protest after the death of a youth identified as Rakesh (20). the accident had taken place on Friday night. After this, people immediately took the youth to the City hospital where the doctors declared him dead. The family and the people gathered with the family at hospital, turned violent. They alleged that there was delay in treatment,

There was vandalism in the hospital and the staff was beaten up. The angry crowd also pelted stones. During this, the son of the hospital director opened fired in the air. The police have registered a case against the minor driving the car. However, there is no case of hit and run in this. An FIR has also been lodged regarding vandalism in the hospital.

Later on Saturday, the family protested by placing the body outside the City hospital. After this, a memorandum was submitted. The family ended the protest after the assurance of the police and left for Narsinghgarh with the body. They were demanding to seal the hospital.

During the protest, people raised slogans and demanded action.

There was an argument between the senior police officers who reached the spot and the protesters.

According to eyewitnesses, the speed of the car was so high that it dragged the youth for about 10 meters. The injured was immediately taken to the nearby City Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

The police said that after receiving the news of Rakesh's death in a road accident, his family and the crowd present with them became agitated. The family accused the director of the hospital of collecting money before starting treatment. When the staff opposed this, the uncontrollable crowd started vandalizing the hospital.

When the security guard took the crowd out of the gate, people started pelting stones at the hospital from outside.

To protect themselves amid the vandalism and stone pelting in the hospital, the hospital director and staff left their work station and reached their house near the hospital. As soon as they got the information that the doctor was not in the hospital, the crowd started pelting stones at the first floor house of the hospital director.

The angry crowd entered the house of director Dr. Sabyasachi Gupta and started breaking and throwing the things kept in the balcony. When the hospital director's son and family members tried to stop the crowd from doing so, the furious crowd beat them up as well.

To protect himself and his family from the attack of the uncontrolled crowd that entered the house, the hospital director's son Dr. Ujjwal Gupta started firing with a pistol.

According to eyewitnesses, Dr. Ujjwal fired about 6 rounds. Due to this, the crowd ran away from the hospital director's house and in front of the hospital. On receiving the information, Govindpura police reached the spot and chased away the miscreants standing on the other side of the road.

Hospital director Dr. Ujjwal Gupta said that firing was done with a Tikli gun (toy gun) to drive away the mob that had entered the house. The bullet was not fired from a pistol. All this was done when the mob had entered the house and was attacking me and my family members.

People said that the hospital does not provide treatment in any emergency situation. The same has been done before. People said that the youth injured in the road accident died due to not getting timely treatment.

Hospital owner Dr. Ojwal Gupta said that in the evening, the councillor of the area Rakesh and the owner of Meena Medical Store, whose name he does not know, brought a person in an accident case. We told them that the young man died.
