Hry CM promises full support for investors expanding their businesses into Tanzania

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Friday extended full support to the investors interested in expanding their businesses into Tanzania and assured that the State Government is committed to facilitating their endeavors by providing assistance through the relevant departments in their areas of interest. The Chief Minister was presiding over a debriefing session with the members of Haryana delegation who recently visited Tanzania, here in Chandigarh.

While urging the industrialists to explore possibilities in setting up their ventures abroad, Saini said that the State Government has established the Department of Foreign Cooperation with a view to make Haryana a global identity and to establish Haryana as a preferred destination for investors.

It may be recalled that a high-level delegation led by the Additional Chief Secretary, Foreign Cooperation Department visited Tanzania during the 48th Tanzania International Trade Fair 2024 from July 8 to July 15, 2024 along with industrialists, exporters, traders and institutions from various sectors.

During the visit, detailed discussions were held between the Haryana businessman and Tanzania government and companies to discuss opportunities in various sectors like plywood, sugarmill, mining, agriculture, home appliances, electrical and electronic goods, Education, security etc.

Advisor of the Foreign Cooperation Department, Pawan Choudhary, apprised the Chief Minister that Haryana's exports to Tanzania have increased by approximately 18% between the financial years 2023 and 2024, following the Haryana-Africa Conclave. There is significant potential for business expansion in Tanzania and fruitful efforts are being  made to capitalize on these opportunities, he added.

Managing Director of HAFED, Dr J Ganesan, shared that HAFED has established a store in Tanzania and is in the process of finalizing the export of 10,000 tonnes of rice within one quarter. This Government-to-Government business is expected to significantly boost rice exports from Haryana.

The industrialists expressed their gratitude to the Haryana government for its support throughout the visit, acknowledging the positive impact of the state’s assistance on their international ventures. They also shared their experiences of the Tanzania visit and submitted a proposal to the Chief Minister for investment in agriculture, home appliances, education, packaging, plywood etc.
