Incessant heavy downpour disrupts normal life, plays havoc at places

The continuous and heavy rainfall in the state has disrupted the normal life, people were trapped after they areas were flooded with heavy water and required district administration and SDRF rescue operations for relief.

The incessant rainfall in several places resulted in swollen rivers and full level of dams. On Thursday, it rained in more than 16 districts including Bhopal. Holiday has been declared in schools from nursery to 8th class in Gwalior on 13 and 14 September.

The highest rainfall of 1.25 inches was recorded in Damoh in the state. At the same time, more than half an inch of rainfall was recorded in Malajkhand, Shivpuri and Gwalior of Balaghat. Bhopal, Betul, Guna, Pachmarhi, Khajuraho, Mandla, Sagar, Satna, Tikamgarh, Shajapur, Agar-Malwa, Dewas also received light rain.

Around 25 feet high boundary wall of Dumna Airport in Jabalpur collapsed due to rain. This has created a danger of animals entering the runway. The Airport Authority said that the work of building the wall has been started. Two people trapped in the Dhasan river in Tikamgarh were rescued safely after 24 hours. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav spoke to them on video call from Ujjain.

In Narmadapuram, the Narmada river is flowing 7 feet below the danger mark. Water is being released from 12 gates of Indira Sagar Dam, 11 gates of Omkareshwar Dam and 4 gates of Madikheda Dam. In Bhopal, 3 gates of Kerwa, 2 of Kaliyasot and 1 gate of Bhadbhada are open.

The wall of a kutcha house collapsed due to heavy rain in Lahar. Ganeshram Tiwari (38) died while 10-year-old Bhoomi Tiwari got injured. A red alert for very heavy rain was issued by Met in Bhind, Shivpuri, Ashoknagar, Vidisha, Raisen and Sagar. There are chances of heavy rain in 29 districts including Bhopal, Gwalior, Jabalpur.

Gwalior, which remained untouched by rain this time in monsoon, received 8 inches of rainfall in the last 24 hours. With this, now more than 40 inches of rainfall has been received  . About two and a half inches of rainfall has been recorded in Bhopal.

Earlier, on Wednesday, there was heavy rain in 28 districts. Dams and ponds overflowed. Flood conditions arose in Damoh, Seoni, Balaghat, Sagar, Chhatarpur, Shivpuri districts due to overflowing of rivers. So far, 4.9 inches more water than the quota has been recorded in the state. According to the Meteorological Department, it is raining in the state due to 3 systems - monsoon trough, cyclonic circulation and low pressure area.

The way of the team going to rescue the youth drowned in the dam of Morena has been blocked by trees and electric poles fallen on the road. The work of removing them from the road is going on. Only after this the team will be able to leave for the spot.

On Wednesday afternoon around 3,  5 youths drowned in the Pagara Dam of Jaura. The bodies of 2 of these youths were taken out. Two youths were rescued. At present one is missing. All these 5 youths had gone to worship in a temple built on top of the dam. After worshiping, all started bathing in the dam. Meteorologist said, 'The low pressure area has now turned into depression. The monsoon trough is also going through depression. A cyclonic circle has formed over South Gujarat. Due to these three systems, there is a period of rain. Red and orange alert has been issued in some districts during the next 24 hours. 'This time the monsoon is raining more than expected.

In Bhopal, holiday was declared for children from class 1 to 5 and Anganwadi on Thursday. Here, the gates of all the dams of Bhopal are open. 3 out of 8 gates of Kerwa Dam, 2 out of 13 gates of Kaliyasot, 1 out of 11 gates of Bhadbhada and 1 out of 8 gates of Kolar are open. As a precaution, low lying areas along the river have been alerted.
