Chhattisgarh Finance Minister O.P. Choudhary launched the All India Wrestling Competition at the 39th Chakradhar cultural festival in Raigarh district on Wednesday.
A total of 275 wrestlers from across the country are participating.
On this occasion, Choudhary said authorities are laying out an action plan to promote wrestling and give wrestlers more opportunities to help them progress.
He praised the District Administration and the Wrestling Association for the well-planned organisation of the competition.
Choudhary also honoured international-level referees Ajit Mann from Delhi and Yashveer Singh Dhaka from Haryana by presenting them maces.
The Chakradhar festival is celebrated to honour Maharaja Chakradhar Singh, who was a great patron of music and dance. The festival was started in 1985.
