Miscreant fails to snatch hand-bag, mobile phone, caught

A miscreant was arrested on on Wednesday, when he was trying to flee after a failed attempt of robbery.

The miscreant attempted to smatch a hand bag and a mobile phone from a woman at Patrakar Colony on Tuesday; brave victim protested for over 10 minutes which failed the robbery.

He strangled her when she resisted and also assaulted her, the woman freed herself and kept fighting with the robber for about 10 minutes.

Hearing the noise neighbors came to help, spotting people rushing to help, the robber tried to escape through the roof. During this, he got injured. People handed over the accused to the police.

The incident took place at house number 58 in Patrakar Colony in TT Nagar area at 8.15 pm on Tuesday night. A case was registered against the accused in TT Nagar police station around 12 in the night. The police have arrested the accused. The accused is also seen going inside in the CCTV installed outside the house.

The victim Purnima who is a beautician lives on rent on the first floor of this house in Patrakar Colony. The victim said- I closed the shop, the robber followed me till house number 58 in Patrakar Colony belongs to RC Joshi.

Purnima Batla lives and operates a beauty parlor in house number 30 which is a few yards away from the house. Her cosmetics shop is also here, which is operated by her husband Rakesh Batla. Purnima said, 'On Tuesday night at around 8:15 pm, I was returning home on foot after closing the shop. On the way, an unknown youth was seen following me. I ignored him. She entered her house. The accused followed me and reached the house on the first floor during which he hid, she opened the lock of the house and went inside. The accused also came from behind. I was frightened to see the miscreant suddenly. The miscreant signaled me to keep quiet. Before I could make noise, the miscreant started beating me with kicks and punches. When I started making noise, the miscreant started strangling me. He beat me badly.

Somehow, she escaped from his clutches and shouted again. Hearing the noise, neighbors Tarun Dixit and Ravi Pal came. Seeing them, the accused tried to escape through the roof. During this, he got injured. Both the neighbors chased him and caught him. During interrogation, the miscreant told his name as Vinod Sapkade. This incident lasted for about 10 minutes. Police were informed. The accused was handed over to the police.'

Seeing the neighbors coming, the miscreant ran towards the roof. He tried to escape by jumping from the second floor to the neighbor's roof. He fell before he could jump. Due to this, he got injured. He lay down on the roof groaning in pain. Purnima and the people present also made a video of this.

Purnima's landlord RC Joshi said that he was not present in the house at the time of the incident. He had gone to a relative's place with his wife. A major incident was averted due to the help of neighbors. The house was given to the tenants only after police verification. Purnima has been living in the house for two years.

In the case, Additional DCP Rashmi Agarwal Dub said that an FIR has been registered at 12 pm on the complaint. The matter is being investigated. After receiving the information, the police immediately reached the spot.
