In a tragic incident in Etah district, an old woman and three girls of the same family were buried alive under the rubble when the roof of a house collapsed due to rain.

Two children were also seriously injured in the mishap and they were rushed to hospital for treatment after being taken out from the rubble.

As soon as the information was received, the police rushed to the spot.

The roof suddenly collapsed on Thursday night when Ramgopal, a farmer and resident of Kuppura village under Jaithra police station, and his wife were sleeping in the courtyard, while his elderly mother Hoshiyarshri (64), three daughters Sapna (16), Julie (13) and Anshika (11) and two sons Shiva and Anand were sleeping in the room.

On hearing the loud cracking sound of the roof collapsing, the villagers ran towards Ramgopal’s house. Ramgopal’s mother along with his three daughters and two sons were buried under the debris. The police also reached the spot. The police immediately started removing the rubble with the help of the villagers.

First, the bodies of Hoshiyarshri and her granddaughter Anshika were found on a cot. Both were clinging to each other. Sapna and Julie along with their two sons were found seriously injured. The injured were immediately sent to the hospital for treatment. Sapna, and Julie died while being taken for treatment. Shiva and Anand are undergoing treatment in the hospital.

District Magistrate Prem Ranjan Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police Shyam Narayan Singh and other top officials also reached the spot at night to supervise the rescue operation.
