Punjab Govt makes online registration mandatory for playway schools

Thursday, 12 December 2024 | PNS | Chandigarh

Punjab Government on Wednesday issued new guidelines for the online registration for playway schools. “It is mandatory for these schools to have a play area, and it is also necessary for schools to have cameras installed,” said the state’s Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr Baljit Kaur, while appealing to the parents to verify whether the school is registered before enrolling their children.

“Punjab Government is not only working for the welfare of various communities but is also committed to the holistic development of children,” said the Minister.

Sharing the information, the Minister said that the information regarding registration of schools will be uploaded on the official website of the Department of Social Security, Women and Child Development. She emphasized that the health of children aged three to six years in Punjab will not be compromised. Playway schools operating in a single room will be completely shut down, she added.

The Minister further said that schools will ensure timely health checkups and maintain records of immunizations for children. “The policy will now be effectively implemented at the ground level, with the launch of a robust online registration system for schools,” she said.

“Playway schools will use games as a tool for early childhood development, which will enhance both the physical and mental growth of children,” said the Minister, adding that to monitor children’s health, parent-teacher WhatsApp groups will be established.
