Tata Steel Foundation Jharia Division celebrates International Day for Persons with Disabilities

The  Tata Steel Foundation marked International Day of Persons with Disabilities at SPARSH Centre, Jamadoba and Malkera Community Centre, under Baghmara block by ushering in the cultural performances and celebrating the spirit of their resilience. 

The  theme for this year was - Amplifying the leadership of Persons with Disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future. Keeping up with this theme, Dr Manju Das, District Leprosy Officer Dhanbad, the chief guest of the programme, recognised the efforts and resilience of Persons with Disabilities in raising awareness and distributed assistive devices to Persons with Disabilities. Outdoor leadership certificates were also distributed 15 PwDs for exceptional work.

The programme began in the morning at Sparsh Centre, Jamadoba with distribution of assistive devices and messages from the Chief Guest. In the second half cake cutting ceremony followed by the cultural programme was organized at Malkera as part of the day-long programme. 31 no. of assistive devices were distributed to help link PwDs for their day-to-day support and care. The special guests present at the occasion were, Dr Aloke, Chief Medical Officer, Tata Main Hospital, Jamadoba, Shweta Mishra, Head Administration Jharia Division Tata Steel, Santosh Kumar Mahato, Regional Secretary RCMU, Piyush Kumar, Sr Area Manager HRBP, Sijua Group and Sujit Kumar Jha, Sr Area Manager Security, Jharia Division. The objective of the programme was to raise awareness, understanding about PwDs, and foster a sense of equitable opportunities and fair treatment of all human race. 

Others present on the occasion were Rajesh Kumar, Unit Lead TSF Jamadoba, Ravi Jha, Sr Manager Security Vikas Kataria, Manager Security Sijua Group, Bandi Gayatri, Manager Mining Bhelatand Colliery, Bipin Choudhary, Manager, Community Development, Dr B Patra, Medical Officer, Dr Debbrata Das, Manager Public Health, S.M Trigunite and Girish Mahato, Coordination Committee Member and Vinod Rajak, Mukhiya, Malkera South Panchayat, Laxmi Kumari, Ajay Paswan and Raj Kumar from Sabal team.
