Vijender demands CBI probe into financial mismanagement by AAP in relation to DSEU

Vijender Gupta, the Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, has demanded CBI inquiry into the alleged financial mismanagement by the AAP government particularly in relation to the Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU) and questionable expenditures made through the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) between 2020 and 2023.

Making this demand in his letter to Delhi Lt Governor V K Saxena, Gupta claimed a "massive recruitment scam" within DSEU, where political appointees have allegedly been placed in high-paying positions without following the established recruitment processes.

The recruitment practices, according to Gupta, undermine the principles of fairness, transparency, and accountability in public administration, with salaries exceeding those of the Vice-Chancellor.

Further compounding these concerns is the AAP government's expenditure through BCG, which Gupta claims totals an astronomical Rs. 250 crore of public funds without following GIF (General Financial Rules).

Notably, Rs. 100 crore has been spent on advertisements, while Rs. 60 crore worth of fake bills remain unpaid. Gupta has expressed alarm over the reckless spending that appears to have yielded no tangible benefits for educational institutions or students.

The current state of DSEU, as described by Gupta, is dire. The university is critically understaffed, with only 85 non-teaching staff against a sanctioned strength of 1700, and 500 teaching staff out of the required 1600. Infrastructure across campuses is severely lacking, with some facilities missing even basic amenities such as water and electricity.
