Delhi CM welcome PM Modi GST reforms

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has welcomed and expressed gratitude for the announcements made by  Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the GST reforms. The Chief Minister stated that the Prime Minister’s initiative to simplify the tax system and make it citizen-friendly is highly commendable. According to her, this decision will not only strengthen the national economy but also provide relief from inflation and give a new direction to development for the people of Delhi.

The Chief Minister reiterated that Prime Minister Modi’s appeal to states to promote manufacturing and investment for a self-reliant India marks a new path for national development. Delhi Government is actively encouraging industries and startups, improving ease of doing business, and implementing comprehensive policies to attract investment. Special focus is being given to green manufacturing, the IT sector, and small-scale industries, along with the modernization of infrastructure, reliable utilities, and transparent administration. On Monday afternoon, the Chief Minister will participate in the “GST Savings Festival” at Totaram Market, Tri Nagar, joining traders and shopkeepers. In her remarks, the Chief Minister noted, “It feels as if Diwali has come early this year for the people of Delhi. A festive spirit is already visible across the city’s shopping areas.”

The chief minister said that the Prime Minister’s call to accelerate the Self-Reliant India and Swadeshi campaigns is highly inspirational. She emphasized that Delhi Government fully supports this vision and is taking concrete measures to achieve the objectives of a self-reliant India. Regarding the historic GST announcement, the Chief Minister expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi, describing it as a courageous and farsighted decision in the national interest. She highlighted that under the new GST structure, medicines, essential household goods, and key services will now be available at lower rates, providing significant relief to common citizens and middle-class families. She also stated that Delhi, being a major consumer and commercial hub, will directly benefit. Small traders, wholesale markets, and the startup ecosystem will experience tangible advantages. With reduced prices, consumption will rise and local markets will be strengthened. The Chief Minister added that the simplified tax structure will encourage investment, create employment opportunities in industry and services, and directly benefit Delhi’s youth. The chief minister emphasized that the Delhi Government is fully committed to ensuring that the benefits of reduced taxation reach consumers. Market monitoring and awareness campaigns will be conducted to ensure effective implementation. The chief minister also noted that the Prime Minister’s GST announcement is already showing a positive impact across Delhi. Citizens are highly satisfied, and traders and shopkeepers are visibly happy. “It feels as if Diwali has come early this year. A festive shopping atmosphere is evident throughout Delhi, and from Monday, both large and small markets will be immersed in celebration,” she said. To participate in this celebratory spirit, the Chief Minister will attend the “GST Savings Festival” at Totaram Bazar, Tri Nagar, tomorrow. She added that for the first time in years, both Delhi residents and the business community appear delighted with the festive shopping experience.

Delhi BJP leaders and trade bodies also credited the Prime Minister for the reforms, saying it will give fresh energy to both consumers and businesses struggling with inflation. Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva said the reforms, which came into effect on the first day of Navratri, were a “big gift” from the Modi Government.
