Dr Prakash Chand Jain, an Outstanding Scientist with Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) India has been elected as a Fellow of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) in recognition of his outstanding engineering achievements andcontributionstoengineeringprofession. Dr Jain is currently working at Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Missile Complex based Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL) Hyderabad.
Dr Jain, has made significant contributions in the areas of Mechanical Structural technologies applied to country's defence programs for past three decades. His key contributions include structural integrity analysis of rocket Airframes using cutting edge technologies. His research findings are published in international Journals and through granted patents.
Dr Jain, is an alumnus of Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay and BOYSCAST Fellow from Penn State University USA. He has received executive management training from George Washington University USA and attended Leadership program at Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad. Dr Jain is recipient of several awards including HJ Bhabha Award from Prime Minister of India and Biren Roy Space Science Award from Governor of Karnataka.
He is a Fellow of Aeronautical Society of India, Fellow of Institution of Engineers (India) and Fellow of Telangana Academy of Sciences. The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) honours a select few key contributors globally for their outstanding achievements and innovations in the field of mechanical engineering. ASME founded in 1880, is an association of nearly 72,000 engineers from 130 countries who are
dedicated to advancing the global engineering profession. ASME helps the global engineering community develop solutions to real-world challenges by enabling collaboration, knowledge sharing and skill development across all engineering disciplines, while promoting the vital role of the engineer in society. ASME's codes and standards, publications, conferences, continuing education and professional development programs provide a foundation for advancing technical knowledge and a safer world.
ASME serves societal aspirations through strategic technologies, namely Advanced Manufacturing, Pressure Technology, Clean Energy, Robotics, Bioengineering, Efficient Housing and Clean Water. On this recognition, Dr Jain said”I feel deeply humbled and honoured to have my contributions acknowledged at the international level in the fields of Science, Technology and Engineering. This recognition further strengthens my sense of responsibility and inspires me to contribute more steadfastly to the nation's scientific and technological advancement.
