President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday greeted Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on his birthday. Prime Minister Modi also greeted former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda on his birthday.
Born on May 18, 1951 in Kithana village of Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu district, Dhankhar was sworn in as the country’s 14th Vice President on August 11, 2022.
“Hearty greetings and best wishes to @VPIndia Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar Ji on his birthday! I wish him good health and very many years in the service of the nation,” President Murmu said in a social media post.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on his birthday and said he has made commendable efforts to boost the productivity of the Rajya Sabha.
“Greetings to our Vice President, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar Ji on his birthday. He is blessed with tremendous knowledge of our Constitution, reflecting from his years of work as a leading lawyer,” Modi said in a social media post.
“He has made commendable efforts to boost the productivity of the Rajya Sabha. His interest towards serving society is also immense. May he lead a long and healthy life,” the prime minister said.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh called on Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar. His meeting with the vice president comes days after Chief of Defence Staff(CDS)General Anil Chauhan called on Dhankhar.
The meeting comes against the backdrop of the India-Pakistan military conflict in the aftermath of the terror attack in Pahalgam. It is also the vice president’s birthday. The vice president secretariat shared pictures of the meeting between Dhankhar and the defence minister.
Prime Minister Modi greeted former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) president H D Deve Gowda on his birthday on Sunday. Deve Gowda, who served as prime minister between June 1996 and April 1997, turned 92 on Sunday.
In a social media post, Modi said Gowda is widely respected for his statesman-like approach and passion towards public service.
“Birthday wishes to our former Prime Minister, Shri HD Deve Gowda Ji. He is widely respected for his statesman-like approach and passion towards public service,” Modi wrote.
“His wisdom and insights on several issues are a source of great strength. May he be blessed with a long and healthy life,” he added.
