Adani slammed for defying FRA, PESA

Saturday, 13 September 2025 | PNS

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has accused the Adani Group of initiating tree-cutting on Government and forest land in Madhya Pradesh's Dhirauli coal mine project without mandatory legal clearances. He alleged violations of the Forest Rights Act (2006) and PESA (1996), noting no Gram Sabha consultations occurred despite the area being a Fifth Schedule tribal zone. Ramesh claimed the Modi Government pushed the allotment in 2019 and is rushing ahead in 2025, ignoring Stage-II forest clearance. He warned of ecological damage and double displacement for tribal communities. The Adani Group and Union Government have not responded to the allegations.
