Modi crosses auspicious 11

Setting the tone for 12th year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi led NDA Government which completed 11 years on Monday and giving a consecutive third term for Modi, the Union Council of Ministers and BJP’s partners at the Centre as well States rallied behind the PM counting on the success stories since 2014 when BJP came on its full majority at the Centre.

On the anniversary celebrations, the PM remarked the NDA Government has delivered path-breaking changes with speed, scale and sensitivity which has come through the principle of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas’. Since first assuming office in May 2014, took the oath of office for his third straight term on June 9, 2024.

Modi asserted that under the 11 years of his Government India has not just become the fastest-growing major economy but is also a key global voice on pressing issues like climate action and digital innovation.

Cabinet colleagues of Modi and other senior leaders of the ruling NDA listed a number of measures of the Government, with the Defence Minister stating that India is moving forward stronger, prouder, and united.

The ministers highlighted the reach and impact of welfare schemes like ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ for sanitation, ‘Ayushman Bharat’ for health insurance, and ‘Ujjwala Yojana’ for cooking gas, besides measures for housing for the poor, cash assistance to farmers and subsidised loan schemes without collateral for entrepreneurs. While Home Minister and Modi’s long time associate Amit Shah lauded the 11 years of Modi Government as a “golden period”, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh asserted that India stands well-equipped and unwavering in its resolve to safeguard its territorial integrity under Modi’s leadership.

Union minister and former BJP chief Nitin Gadkari said under Modi’s “visionary leadership”, India has undergone a historic transformation grounded in seva (service), good governance, and inclusive development. Lok Janshakti Party leader and Union minister Chirag Paswan said that the country has seen a new era of economic rejuvenation, social justice, cultural pride and national security.

Modi shared a data representation on social media platforms noting that 60 per cent of the current Union ministers are from the SC, ST and OBC categories, giving a message aimed at social justice credentials of his Government.

Modi said powered by the blessings and collective participation of 140 crore Indians, India has witnessed rapid transformations across diverse sectors. “We are proud of our collective success but at the same time, we look ahead with hope, confidence and a renewed resolve to build a Viksit Bharat,” said Modi.

Addressing a Press conference to mark the Government’s 11th anniversary, BJP president and Modi’s Cabinet colleague, JP Nadda, said the 11 years of Narendra Modi-led Government will be written in golden letters for the positive changes it has effected in the country.

He said Modi made the Government accountable and responsive while confronting challenges head-on, putting an end to “scams, divisive politics, appeasement and overall negativism” which marked the 10 years of the Congress-led UPA rule. On the occasion Nadda also slammed senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi as an “irresponsible” opposition leader and accusing him of raising “baseless” questions. “It is difficult to understand his (Rahul Gandhi’s) aim.

He attends the all-party meeting and says he stands with the country. He goes outside and raises questions that are baseless. I can only say that he is playing the role of an irresponsible opposition,” said the Union Health Minister.

Nadda expressed confidence that the NDA Government will complete its tenure and quipped that it will last its next full term as well. “Our Government is strong. It will last for five years in this term and the next too,” he said.

Dismissing Congress chief spokesman Jairam Ramesh’s swipe at PM Modi for not addressing a Press conference on the Government’s anniversary, Nadda wondered what is wrong when the president of the main party in power has spoken to the media. Hitting back at Ramesh, he said that the prime minister converses more with people than the Congress general secretary would have spoken to anyone in his life.

While BJP recalled as how the party is campaigning to build opinion in support of One Nation One Poll, it also cited the repeal of Article 370, abolition of triple talaq, amendment in Waqf law, the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, demonetisation and the women’s reservation bill as among the greatest achievements of the Modi Government.

Nadda said Modi is the first prime minister who publicly announced his Government’s intent to punish terrorists and did so after terror incidents in Uri, Pulwama and Pahalgam. Modi worked meticulously to address all problems like Covid, Naxalism or terrorism for which he gave a clarion call of zero tolerance, added Nadda.
