The police in Garhwa have solved the robbery case involving gold merchant S Kumar Soni, which took place on 29 January. Four suspects were arrested: Manish Kumar Bhuinya, known as Kujur, Abhishek Kumar Chaudhary, Mithun Kumar Mahato, and Vishal Kumar Chaudhary. Abhishek is from Ranka, Garhwa, while Vishal is from Daltonganj, Palamau. Manish and Mithun live in Namkum, Ranchi.
The police recovered the stolen jewellery, the gold merchant's mobile phone, the motorcycle used in the robbery, a homemade pistol, two live .315 rounds, and an empty cartridge from the suspects. Garhwa Superintendent of Police (SP) Deepak Pandey announced this on Monday.
SP Pandey told the media that on 2 February, around 4:30 pm, the police received a tip about suspicious young men in the Tenudih forest in Garhwa. The team went to the area and arrested the four men. They all confessed to the crime.
In their statements, the suspects said Abhishek Kumar Chaudhary planned the robbery. He contacted Manish Bhuinya, Kujur, Mithun Mahato, and Vishal Kumar Chaudhary to help him rob S Kumar Soni in Garhwa. The group arrived on the morning of 29 January. They first checked Soni's location and then robbed him at knifepoint, taking all the jewellery and his mobile phone from the boot of his motorcycle. After the robbery, they ran away.
On 2 February, the robbers met in the Tenudih forest to split the stolen gold and silver jewellery when the police caught them.
Manish Bhuinya has six cases against him, Mithun Mahato has two, and Vishal Kumar Chaudhary has one in different police stations. The work of Ranka SDPO Rohit Ranjan Singh, Inspector Subhash Kumar Paswan, Station House Officer Animesh Shantikari, Prabhat Kumar, Anil Hembram, Rajesh Kumar Jha, ASI Vinay Kumar Pandey, Havildar Doman Mochi, and Constable Kaushal Kishore Tiwari in catching the suspects is commendable.
