A 50-year-old laborer from Bihar, Dhaneshwar Yadav, was brutally beaten to death on Thursday night in Bavchia village after a liquor-fueled gathering with relatives and acquaintances turned violent. The incident has left the local community in shock and prompted an intensive police search for the accused.
According to police, Dhaneshwar was attacked with wooden sticks by a group of six youths, including his relative Ranjit Yadav, during a heated altercation. The assault resulted in severe injuries, particularly to his head and body. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital by neighbors who heard the commotion, Dhaneshwar succumbed to his injuries early Friday morning.
Dhaneshwar had been living and working as a porter at a local warehouse in Bavchia for several years. On Thursday evening, Ranjit Yadav, who also hails from Bihar and works at a warehouse in a neighboring village, visited Dhaneshwar’s residence along with four to five companions for what appeared to be a casual drinking session. However, as the night progressed, a dispute broke out. The exact reason for the altercation remains unclear.
The argument escalated rapidly, leading to the fatal attack. After the incident, the assailants fled the scene and are currently absconding. A post-mortem was conducted on Dhaneshwar’s body, and it was later handed over to his grieving family.
Berasia police station in-charge Arun Kumar Sharma confirmed that police teams arrived at the hospital soon after the incident was reported. “We are actively searching for the accused. Two special teams have been deployed to trace and apprehend them,” Sharma said. He added that the motive behind the murder remains unknown, and further details are expected to emerge after the suspects are taken into custody and interrogated.
Police have registered a case of murder and criminal conspiracy, and investigation into the circumstances leading to the deadly altercation is ongoing.
