Eight people lost their lives, and 13 others were injured in a head-on collision between an SUV and truck in the City Kotwali area of Sidhi, Madhya Pradesh, around 2:30 am near the Upni Petrol Pump.
Among the deceased, five were women and three were men while six children were among the injured who escaped the accident.
The victims were traveling in two separate vehicles, one heading to Jhokhon in Maihar for a Mundan Sanskar ceremony and the other traveling from Sidhi to Bahri.
The incident was promptly reported by passing villagers and other drivers, who alerted the police and ambulance services.
The injured were quickly rescued and taken to nearby hospitals, with eight of the critically injured referred to Rewa for further treatment.
The authorities are currently investigating the cause of the collision. The deceased have been identified as Kunjlal Sahu (32), Etwariya Sahu (48), Ganga Sahu (60), Etwariya Sahu (50), Sukharjua Sahu (34), Phoolkali Sahu (50), Sushila Sahu (40), and one unidentified individual.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has expressed grief over the untimely death of eight devotees in a road accident late night near Upni village in Sidhi district. CM Yadav has given instructions to approve an amount of Rs 2 lakh each from the Chief Minister's Discretionary Fund to the families of the deceased, Rs 1 lakh each to the seriously injured and Rs 50,000 each to the general injured. CM Yadav has said that late night, senior officials of the police administration reached the spot and arranged for the treatment of the injured with the help of local citizens and the seriously injured passengers have been referred to Rewa.
Chief Minister Yadav expressed condolences to the affected family and prayed to Lord Mahakal to give place to the departed souls in his lotus feet and strength to the bereaved family to bear this immense sorrow. CM Yadav also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. It is noteworthy that eight passengers died in a terrible collision between a passenger vehicle going to visit Maihar Mata and a truck late on Sunday night.
