The School Education and Literacy Department of the state government is starting a strong and powerful campaign against drug abuse through 'Prahari Club' in 2700 secondary/higher secondary schools of class 9 to 12 in the state. These clubs will make school children aware of the ill effects of drugs and will inspire them to stay away from drugs. Through the Prahari Club, students will be informed about the social, physical and mental harms of drug abuse, and will also be encouraged to adopt a healthy lifestyle. This initiative will not only make children aware of the dangers of drug addiction, but will also lead them towards a safe future by giving them the right information and guidance.
The Prahari Club will have the Principal/In-charge Principal, two senior assistant teachers and three student members. The help of representatives of various stakeholders like Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), UNICEF, CINI, PHIA, RIMS, Rinpas, NCC, Police will be taken in this club. Prior to training, the members of Prahari Club will be provided the relevant modules, leaflets, and other supporting training materials through the said stakeholders. Along with this, training materials will also be uploaded in the J-Guruji app for the orientation of teachers.
At the school level, teachers, members of school management committees, parents and students will be made aware through awareness programs from the month of August. Under this, making students aware in prayer meetings on a weekly basis, organizing Prabhat Pheri in the catchment areas, making parents aware on this subject in the SMC meeting every month, organizing competitions like poster, painting, slogan, quiz, essay and debate, organizing cycle rally etc.
A one-day training will be given to district level officials and district level master trainers in the auditorium of Jharkhand Education Project Council for awareness about drug abuse in schools. In this training workshop, nominated representatives of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), UNICEF, Sini, PHIA, RIMS, Rinpas, NCC, administration will train officials and master trainers. A total of 192 participants, eight participants from each district, will receive training in the training. After the training, all the officials will continuously visit/monitor awareness campaigns at the school level to prevent drug abuse.
A total of 852 schools have established Prahari Club till now, including Palamu 112, Giridih 110, Bokaro 85, Deoghar 97 and Koderma 54.
