Newly-elected MLAs of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) met party supremo Arvind Kejriwal at his Ferozshah Road residence on Sunday, a day after the party faced drubbing in the Delhi assembly election, winning only 22 out of the total 70 seats it contested.

After the meeting, Senior AAP Leader and MLA-elect Atishi reaffirmed the party’s commitment to serving the people and holding the BJP government accountable and said the AAP will play the role of a constructive opposition and ensure that the BJP pays Rs 2,500 per month to women by March 8 as was promised by it, provides 300 units of free electricity and continues other facilities for the people.

She stated that AAP chief has instructed AAP’s newly elected 22 MLAs to prioritise public welfare and address grievances in their constituencies. Atishi also emphasized that AAP will act as a responsible opposition, ensuring that the BJP fulfills its promises, including the Rs 2,500 financial assistance for women and the continuation of key public welfare schemes.

Addressing reporters after the meeting, outgoing chief minister Atishi, who is among the 22 AAP leaders who weathered the BJP storm, said the party will play the role of a constructive opposition and hold rival BJP accountable for their poll promises. Atishi stated that AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal held a meeting with the newly elected 22 AAP MLAs, providing them with clear directives. She added, “He emphasised that these MLAs must serve the people in their respective constituencies and ensure that all public grievances are addressed effectively.” She added, “It is now the party’s responsibility to serve them and resolve their issues.” Additionally, she stressed that AAP will play the role of a responsible opposition, and added, “The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which has formed the government, must be held accountable.”
