Aam Aadmi Party(AAP)on Tuesday criticized the BJP for preparing a swearing-in ceremony without announcing a Chief Minister and quipped the wedding procession and stage are set, but no one knows who the groom is.
Making this assertion, Delhi state convenor of AAP Gopal Rai also questioned whether the BJP was struggling to decide or hiding something.
He pointed out that usually, after an election, the winning party selects its leader and stakes its claim to form the government.
But here, the BJP is making all preparations without revealing who will lead.
Rai said. “For the first time in India’s history, we are witnessing something unusual.
Governments with different parties have been formed in states and at the Centre, and majorities have been secured.
But this is the first time we see everything ready—the wedding procession is prepared, the stage is set, and even inspections are taking place.
The only missing piece is the groom. The BJP has still not finalised the Chief Minister’s name.
Either they are struggling to decide, or they are hiding something significant.”
Rai pointed out that the BJP’s approach contradicts the usual political process, where a leader is chosen promptly after elections.
“Traditionally, after elections, the winning party convenes a meeting of its MLAs. A leader is selected, and they stake their claim to form the government.
Along with this, the list of ministers is submitted to the Governor or the President, and after their approval, the swearing-in date is announced.
But here, everything is in place—except for the Chief Minister. No one knows who it will be,” he said.
The AAP Delhi State Convenor stated that BJP is capable of anything, and this delay might just be the first of many unusual records it will set in the next five years.
“The BJP is unpredictable. They can do anything.
At this rate, they are on track to set many more records in the next five years.”
