Agniveers to get 20 pc reservation in State police recruitment: Haryana CM

Monday, 07 April 2025 | PNS | Panchkula/Chandigarh

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday said that Haryana is the first state in the country which has secured the future of Agniveers by creating a provision for jobs after their service period in the Army.

“Agniveers will be provided 20 percent reservation in the recruitment of State police. Similarly, a provision of 10 percent reservation has also been made for Agniveers in the jobs of forest guard, jail warder, and mining guard in the Forest Department, which will ensure a security cover to the Agniveers,” said Saini, while chairing a review meeting regarding providing reservation in jobs to Agniveers at the PWD Rest House in Panchkula

Saini said that Agniveers will be able to get jobs in Haryana after their service period in the Army; and for this, a separate portal will be created on which they can register themselves. After this, they will be given preference in jobs on the basis of educational qualification, he said.

It was informed in the meeting that under the Agnipath scheme started by the Central Government from July 15, 2022, Agniveers have been recruited in the Army, Navy and Air Force. The first batch of Agniveers is set to be completed in July 2026, while the Haryana Cabinet has already provided security cover to the Agniveers by implementing the Haryana Agniveer Policy-2024.

About 2893 Agniveers were recruited in the Army, Navy and Air Force from Haryana during the year 2023-24, and 2227 were recruited in 2022-23. Agniveers in Haryana will be given 10 percent horizontal reservation in the recruitment of mining guards, jail warders, and SPOs. Apart from this, five percent reservation will be given in the recruitment of Group C.

Those Agniveers who want to adopt self-employment or entrepreneurship will be provided loans at affordable rates. Apart from this, if the industries employ Agniveers on a monthly salary of more than Rs 30,000, the government will provide an annual subsidy of Rs 60,000 to those industries.

Those Agniveers who want to serve as private security personnel will be given priority in providing gun licences. For this, Agniveers will have to apply on the portal.

CM Reviews Preparations For PM’s Yamunanagar Visit On Apr 14

Chief Minister also reviewed preparations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s programme. “Prime Minister will reach Haryana on April 14 to give a big gift to the people of the state. On this day, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of 800 MW capacity thermal unit in Yamunanagar, inaugurate the airport in Hisar and lay the foundation stone of a new terminal. Through these development works, the Prime Minister will connect Viksit Haryana with Viksit Bharat,” said Saini.

“I had a meeting with officials and reviewed all preparations to ensure there are no issues both at Yamunanagar and Hisar,” said Saini, expressing satisfaction over the preparations.

He said: “These gifts of development to the state will benefit not only the people but also the people of the country. After a big victory in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, the BJP has also got a big victory in the recent local body elections. In such a situation, the development of the state will be done at thrice the speed, and the Prime Minister is arriving in the state to increase this pace.”
