Southern Chotanagpur Division's Kisan Mela cum Exhibition was organized at Silagai of Chanho, the birthplace of Amar Shaheed Veer Budhu Bhagat. Farmers from five districts participated in the Mela organized by Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperation. Minister Shilpi Neha Tirkey inaugurated the Kisan Mela cum Exhibition. Inspecting more than 50 stalls in the Kisan Mela, she took information about the products from the farmers. Before this, the minister and other guests garlanded the statue of Amar Shaheed Veer Budhu Bhagat. On this occasion, assets were distributed among the farmers by the department.
Addressing people on the occasion the Minister said that when she got the responsibility of the ministerial post, some people said that she should have become the Education Minister, while some said that she should have become the Health Minister. But she knew that Mandar is an agriculture dominated area and this is a better opportunity and department for its development. Through this department, she can serve the people of the region and the state as much as possible. She said that she will work to reach out to the farmers directly and convey their problems to the government.
Tirkey said that the farmers of Gumla, Lohardaga and Khunti are doing better work. The Didis here are very hardworking but Mandar is lagging behind. The department officials do not make plans considering Mandar as a part of Ranchi and the city. It is important for the farmers to communicate with each other. Then we will be able to know what Gumla is doing, what Lohardaga is doing, what new have the farmers of Khunti done. Today, due to lack of employment and money, farmers are selling their land. Somewhere factories are opening, somewhere apartments are being built.
The Minister said that you and I can live in a small house with less clothes, but we cannot live without food. She appealed to the rural farmers to join Medha Dairy and buy a milk cow today itself. The minister said that by giving milk to Medha Dairy, one can easily get the benefit of 5 rupees extra in 12 days. A woman from Cambo of Mandar is earning 1.5 to 2 lakh rupees a month by selling milk. She said that women should make a plan to convert 2500 rupees into lakhs under the Chief Minister Mainiya Samman Yojana. In Gumla, women are doing good work with eggs. Farmers are said to be poor. Farmers are not poor, they are food providers. In Giridih, the people of the committee are earning up to 40 lakh rupees by fish farming. The department has decided that the pond of the Panchayat will first be settled in the Panchayat. The department is handicapped without Krishi Mitra, Matsya Mitra, Agriculture Officer. VLW should only work for Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperative Department. Kisan Mela will be held in all 5 divisions.
On this occasion, State Coordination Committee member Bandhu Tirkey said that for the first time a divisional level Kisan Mela has been organized in Chanho. There is a need to emphasize on how to get the benefit of Kisan Mela. The benefits of government schemes do not reach the villages. In this fair, you will get a scheme at 90 percent subsidy. Migration can be stopped by joining the department's scheme. You can do self-employment by joining the department. Bandhu Tirkey said that work will have to be done to empower women by forming a committee.
Kanke MLA Suresh Baitha demanded two cold storages from the Agriculture Minister for the farmers of his area. A cheque of Rs 7 crore 16 lakh was given to the women's support group of Chanho from the stage in the Kisan Mela. Apart from this, the Best Krishak Mitra award was given to Manoj Kumar, Best Farmer award was given to Gansu Mahto, Best Woman Farmer - Lakhia Devi Kisan Credit Card was given to Rajesh Munda, Rohit Shikhar, Vinay Tigga. On this occasion, assets were distributed from the stage. Distribution of a pair of bulls, five cow schemes, duck distribution, goat development scheme, certificates were distributed to the milk product committee. Three books were released from the stage by the guests. These include farmers' success stories, fruit orchard management, crop information book.
