The Department of Anatomy of AIIMS Bhopal successfully organized the Annual Dissection Competition for first-year MBBS students. In this competition, students were divided into different groups and given the opportunity to perform scientific dissections on assigned parts of the human body. Dissection refers to the careful opening of the human body to study its internal organs, nerves, muscles, and structures. It is an essential process in medical education, allowing students to directly understand the structure and functioning of the human body.
Three faculty members from other departments were invited to serve as judges, and the winning teams were selected based on the combined scores awarded by them.
The team that secured the first position this year comprised Amina Arif, Devansh Chaurasia, Kanhaiya, Mrinimayee Yogesh, Priyansh Chittora, Salman Ahmad, Srijan Kumar, and Utkarsh Mahadev. The second-place team included Abhay Gupta, Anshika Singh, Gaurav Agrawal, Lav Shukla, Nayan Pandey, Ramesh Kumar, Svarnik Sharma, Swaroop Muralidhar, and Vikas Prajapati. The students who secured the third position were Agwal Shivam, Ayush Rai, Harsh Dhakad, Waqar Yunus, Patil Sarth, Rishi Kumar, Shivam Yadav, and Tanisha Singhal. The efforts of all participating students were commendable. It was also decided by the department that the best anatomical specimen created during the competition would be displayed in the departmental museum to provide academic benefit to other students as well.
On this occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Ajai Singh awarded the winning teams and addressed the students, saying, "Such academic events not only deepen students' understanding of the subject but also significantly enhance their professional competence. This competition is an impactful step towards improving the quality of medical education. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all body donors whose invaluable contributions are enabling our students to gain practical knowledge."
