The Department of Microbiology organized a two-day workshop titled “Training/Brainstorming Session on Developing Strategies for the Prevention of Waterborne Hepatitis and Hands-on Training on Serology and Molecular Identification.”
The objective of the workshop was to develop effective strategies for the identification, prevention, and treatment of waterborne hepatitis, and to provide practical training in serology and molecular diagnostic techniques. District epidemiologists, medical officers, postgraduate students, and laboratory technicians from across the state participated in the workshop.
During the event, three special brainstorming sessions were conducted, focusing on key topics such as diagnostic methods, prevention strategies, outbreak preparedness, public awareness, and management of waterborne hepatitis in high-risk groups. Additionally, participants received hands-on training in advanced techniques such as ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) and Real-Time PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction), enabling them to perform early and accurate diagnosis of waterborne hepatitis.
