In a large-scale operation, Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) anti-encroachment teams removed illegal structures from several parts of the city on Wednesday.
The action, part of the Global Investors Summit (GIS) preparations, targeted key areas where illegal encroachments were obstructing public movement and access.
The operation was particularly extensive near the Radisson Hotel in Ward 50, where sand and gravel dumped on the streets were swiftly removed using JCB machines and dumpers. In addition, several unauthorised sheds in the area were demolished, clearing valuable space.
At the Savoy Complex, five illegal kiosks were demolished. Around 60 large tyres, contributing to the clutter, were also removed to further open up the area.
Meanwhile, BMC teams conducted a city-wide crackdown. Similar operations were also carried out at Ashoka Garden, Awadhpuri Chauraha, Nariyalkheda, and AIIMS, targeting everything from flower beds and abandoned vehicles to personal belongings and kiosks. In total, two roofed carts, two kiosks, a kiosk frame, two tables, and 20 stools were confiscated.
The action comes as part of an ongoing drive led by Municipal Commissioner Harendra Narayan, who has instructed the team to continue aggressively tackling illegal encroachments throughout the city.
The municipal squad also issued warnings to residents and shopkeepers, advising them not to repeat the encroachments.
