Giving a push to development projects, Delhi Education Minister and Janakpuri MLA Ashish Sood on Monday inaugurated a series of civic development projects in his constituency, aimed at strengthening basic infrastructure, at a total cost of around `3 crore.

The key works include replacement of old sewer lines in Sitapuri, sewer line upgradation in Mahavir Enclave, installation of new HDPE water pipelines in Jeevan Park, replacement of old water lines in Uttam Nagar, and sewer improvement work from Dayal Sar Road to Shukr Bazaar.

These initiatives have been undertaken under the campaign “Rekha Sarkar Aapke Dwar — Jankalyan ke liye Tayyar” (Government at Your Doorstep — Committed to Public Welfare), which aims to provide the residents of Janakpuri with improved and reliable civic amenities. Through these projects,

thousands of residents will benefit from a cleaner water supply, better sewage

management, and a healthier environment. On the occasion, Sood said for nearly a decade, no substantial work was carried out in Janakpuri in the name of maintenance of sewer and water pipelines.

He also remarked that in the past 27 years, particularly during the last decade, no significant developmental or public utility improvements were undertaken in Janakpuri.

“We inherited broken roads, dilapidated sewer lines, erratic water supply, irregular electricity, and a mess of hanging wires. But our government does not believe in blame games. Our sole focus is on finding solutions,” the minister said.

During the event, Sood personally sat in a mobile grievance redressal van stationed at Bal Udyan Road, where he listened to residents’ problems and recorded them in a register.

He assured people that all local issues would be resolved promptly. For those unable to visit the MLA office, arrangements have been made to send the mobile van to their doorsteps.

Sood said introducing a mobile van for public grievance redressal is a unique initiative in Delhi.

He further said that it not only strengthens the connection between citizens and their elected representatives but also ensures that people’s problems are addressed quickly and efficiently.
