Ashoka Garden police have taken possession of two miscreants who set a house in Hinotia on fire by sprinkling petrol on Thursday night.
At that time, the woman, her child, brother and parents were present in the house. The entire incident was captured in the CCTV cameras installed outside the house. Due to the fire, household goods and vehicles parked outside were burnt.
On the basis of the footage, the police identified the accused and arrested them on Saturday. A procession was taken out in the area. During this, the accused raised slogans that committing crime is a sin, the police is our father. Both have also been sent to jail on Saturday evening on the orders of the court.
SHO Hemant Srivastava said that Nikita Malviya lives in Hinautia and is a housewife. She told the police station that on Thursday night, her house suddenly caught fire. Due to this, her vehicle and some goods have been burnt. On checking the footage, two youths have been caught on camera setting fire.
A youth sprinkled petrol on the main gate of the house from the bottle kept with him and then set it on fire. Based on the footage, the accused have been identified as Ravi Kushwaha alias Painter and Firoz Khan. Both are old miscreants of the area. Many cases have been registered against them in the past as well.
The accused said that he slapped him while trying to intervene.
The brother of the complainant Akash Malviya said that 10 days ago, both the miscreants were beating a youth of Akash's locality and he intervened and as they were beating the youth badly Akash, slapped Ravi while trying to defend him. To take revenge for this, the accused set his house on fire.
It is clearly visible in the footage that the accused had come chasing Akash. As soon as they came to Akash's house, they sprayed petrol inside from the main gate and set it on fire. Two vehicles parked outside the house were also burnt due to the fire.
