A day after registering a massive victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, the BJP on Sunday sought time for a meeting of the newly elected party MLAs with Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena. Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva wrote to Saxena, seeking an appointment for a meeting with the 48 newly elected party MLAs and seven Lok Sabha MPs from the city. The party’s winning candidates also held thanksgiving rallies in their respective constituencies on Sunday. The candidates celebrated their success by distributing sweets, cutting cakes and thanking voters for supporting them.
“I along with the BJP MPs from Delhi and our newly elected 48 MLAs wish to meet you at an early date. Please, allow an appointment at an early date according to your convenience,” he wrote to the LG. Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva also met with the newly elected MLAs to discuss post poll scenario.
The meeting was also attended by BJP National General Secretary (Organisation) BL Santosh, Delhi BJP Election In-Charge Baijayant Jay Panda, Delhi BJP Co-In-Charge Alka Gurjar, Co-Incharge Atul Garg, etc. Most MPs also participated in the scheduled parliamentary meetings alongwith their area MLAs. Senior leaders provided the MLAs with guidance on working within proper organisational and administrative frameworks. They also emphasised that all MLAs should maintain complete transparency in their working style.
During the meetings, the leaders drew attention to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s victory message from last evening and stated that without wasting any time, efforts should begin to build a developed Delhi, in line with the Prime Minister’s vision.
Sachdeva, however, refused to end the suspense over the next Delhi Chief Minister, claiming that the party leadership would take the decision, and the name of the new CM would be known soon. The Delhi BJP office on Sunday witnessed a series of meetings with newly-elected legislators converging at the premises since morning. Earlier in the day, a group of BJP winning candidates paid a courtesy visit to Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena.
Parvesh Verma, who won from the New Delhi Assembly seat; Arvinder Singh Lovely, elected from the Gandhi Nagar Constituency and Kailash Gahlot, the winner from Bijwasan seat, were among the leaders who met Saxena at Raj Niwas, the official residence of the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi. Speaking to reporters, Kailash Gahlot said, “I am here just for a courtesy meeting with the LG.” Arvinder Singh Lovely, while leaving the Raj Niwas, also said, “It was just a courtesy meeting.” Vijender Gupta, was also met Lieutenant Governor

BJP’s Moti Nagar MLA-elect Harish Khurana took out a rally in his constituency.”I am here in Moti Nagar to thank the people who have shown immense trust in me. I assure them that I will work honestly for their welfare, focusing on issues like public toilets and water supply,” he said.
Satish Upadhyay, who won from Malviya Nagar, led a victory procession that saw his supporters dancing to drum beats. He also visited a temple and cut a cake.”The people have supported us and this rally is our way of showing gratitude. We will work tirelessly for them,” he said.
Parvesh Verma, who emerged as the BJP’s ‘giant slayer’ by defeating AAP convenor and former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal in New Delhi constituency, distributed sweets and was seen feeding them to many passersby including children.
MLA-elect from Rajouri Garden Manjinder Singh Sirsa attributed the BJP’s victory to people’s trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”For 12 years, people were deceived by false promises. Now, they have chosen development and change under Modi’s leadership. This victory belongs to Delhi, the people and our prime minister,” Sirsa said.
BJP’s Tarvinder Singh Marwah, who won from Jangpura, claimed that during the election campaign, leaders of rival parties tried to sway voters by offering them money but people chose Modi’s guarantee. “The AAP leader (Manish Sisodia) called me a goon, distributed money and deployed 300 to 400 workers in Jangpura. All the prominent leaders wanted Sisodia to win this seat and yet people trusted me and Modi’s guarantee. Now, it is our responsibility to fulfil our promises and work for the welfare of Delhi,” he said.
The BJP’s victory marks the end of the Aam Aadmi Party’s decade-long dominance in Delhi, signalling a major shift in public sentiment. The party’s decisive win in the recent election comes after suffering losses in 2015 and 2020. With a strong mandate, the BJP is poised to implement its vision for Delhi, ending the Kejriwal-led governance era in the city. The AAP managed to win 22 of the 70 assembly seats while the Congress drew a blank in the elections held on February 5. The BJP leaders said that formation of the government is likely to take place after Prime Minister Narendra Modi returns from his foreign visit.
The buzz over the new chief minister of Delhi has intensified in the party with several names of senior leaders, who won the elections, being speculated to hold the top post.
Parvesh Verma, the son of former Delhi chief minister Sahib Singh Verma, emerged as a giant killer by defeating AAP convener and former three time Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
