The Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Friday carried out anti-encroachment operations in several areas of the state capital, removing kiosks, carts, shops, and structures from roads, footpaths, and public spaces.
As part of an ongoing drive to free public spaces from the clutches of encroachers, BMC teams targeted AIIMS Gate Nos. 2 and 3, Jahangirabad, Chhola Dussehra Ground, Ratnagiri, Anand Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, ISBT, Karond Square, Station Bajaria, Link Roads 1, 2, and 3, Jawahar Chowk, and more.
The teams dismantled unauthorised signboards, sugarcane crushers, and kiosks while preventing further encroachments on stormwater drains, ensuring better public accessibility and safeguarding urban infrastructure from illegal construction and misuse.
BMC officials said, “Strict action will continue against encroachments to maintain public order. The corporation is committed to ensuring smooth movement for pedestrians and vehicles by keeping public spaces free from unauthorised occupation.”
Also on the day, BMC honoured five retiring employees for their dedicated service at a ceremony held at the Mata Mandir municipal office, where they were presented with shawls, coconuts, certificates, flower bouquets, and sweets as tokens of appreciation for their contribution to civic administration.
Assistant Commissioner R.D. Sharma bid farewell to Afroz Ali, Hargovind Rajput, Ganesh Ram, Jamuna Prasad, and Kiran Pradhan, acknowledging their invaluable service. Officials including S. Nazeer Ahmed, Shamim Qureshi, Anand Kumar Phoolwani, O.P. Saxena, Rajendra Saxena, and others attended the event.
The BMC extended its best wishes, encouraging them to enjoy well-earned relaxation, pursue hobbies, and cherish time with loved ones.
