In a citywide anti-encroachment operation, Bhopal Municipal Corporation on Thursday cleared obstructions to the Metro project and demolished illegal constructions across multiple locations.
Following CM Helpline complaints and routine monitoring, the civic team razed six houses in Arjun Nagar that were stalling Metro work. Illegal platforms, stalls, and boundary walls were also removed.
Eight concrete pillars, a staircase, and a boundary wall near Father Agnel School on New Jail Road were demolished. Paver blocks and shop goods on drains were also cleared.
Encroachments in Ashoka Garden, Karond 80 Ft Road, Subzi Mandi, New Market, Danish Kunj, and over 20 other areas were targeted. Seized items included pushcarts, tarpaulins, tables, and signboards.
The corporation warned violators against re-encroachment. Repeat offences, officials said, would invite stricter legal action under Commissioner Harendra Narayan’s directions.
Meanwhile, the district administration took parallel action in Rasuliya Gosai and Sikandarabad. JCB machines were pressed into action to demolish Illegal structures in these unauthorised colonies after police-backed investigation and SDM-level orders.
