At a recent event organized by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Dr Nehal Shah, a physiotherapist from BMHRC, won the Best Poster Award for her project on combating anemia in rural adolescent females.
The award comes in recognition of her entry during the final capstone project of the ICMR Health Communications Course (IHCC) 2024-25.
The poster was made on the topic "Combating Anemia in Adolescent Females in Rural Areas." This prestigious six-month course was organized by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in partnership with MICA’s Centre for Development Management and Communication (CDMC) and Global Health Strategies (GHS).
The IHCC, launched in July 2024, is a transformative initiative aimed at empowering healthcare professionals with advanced skills in health communication.
The course emphasizes the importance of effectively disseminating health information to the public, addressing misinformation, and fostering trust in medical science.
It integrates theoretical insights with practical applications, equipping participants with the tools to design impactful health communication strategies for diverse audiences.
Recognizing the critical role of communication in public health, ICMR has partnered with premier institutions like MICA and GHS to bridge the gap between scientific research and community awareness.
Apart from Shah, four other participants from BMHRC, including Dr Hanni Gulwani, Dr Rachita, Dr Sanjukta Gosh, and Dr Gaurav Acharya, also completed the course with flying colors.
The final capstone project showcased the participants’ ability to translate their learning into actionable health communication solutions.
Dr Nehal Shah shares the award with two other participants in recognition of their innovative and impactful presentation.
