In a move to streamline operations at Sector-5 Haatia, BSL has assigned management responsibilities to M/s Soni Enterprises, a local agency from the displaced community. The new system was launched on April 19 by Chief General Manager (Town Services) Kundan Kumar, in the presence of BSL officials, vendors, and residents.
Kumar stated that the initiative aims to ensure a clean, hygienic, and well-managed marketplace benefiting both shopkeepers and buyers. He appealed to all vendors to support the system for smooth functioning.
General Manager (Town Administration) A.K. Singh informed that the agency was selected through a transparent tender process. Under the new arrangement, vendors will be allotted space at nominal daily charges—Rs. 40 for 3x3m, Rs. 30 for 3x2m, and Rs. 20 for cart vendors. The agency will maintain cleanliness and provide basic facilities. Temporary electricity connections will also be made available for an additional charge. Unauthorized construction and encroachment will be strictly prohibited.
Addressing the media, BSL’s Chief of Communications M.K Dhan said, “This initiative is a step toward making Sector-5 Haatia a model market. It reflects BSL’s commitment to inclusive development and the Smart Bokaro vision.”
Plans are also underway to introduce an organized parking system at Sector-5 Haatia and City Centre to ease congestion and improve visitor experience.
