Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) achieved a major milestone on February 15 with the go-live of its Human Capital Management (HCM) system, becoming India’s first public sector enterprise to fully comply with the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act.
The Fusion-based HCM system, "Prakhar," aims to automate HR processes, enhance transparency, and improve employee experience. The second phase of this project was completed on schedule.
The go-live ceremony at the HR (L&D) Main Auditorium was inaugurated by Director-in-Charge Birendra Kumar Tiwari, alongside senior executives including Executive Directors C.R. Mahapatra, Suresh Rangani, Rajashree Banerjee, Vikas Manvati, C.R. Mishra, and Anish Sengupta. Representatives from Deloitte and Oracle, the project implementation partners, were also present.
Rajashree Banerjee highlighted the system’s key features and announced its expansion to Mines, CCSO, and Collieries by March 2025. The formal go-live was marked by Birendra Kumar Tiwari logging into the system, followed by his congratulatory message to the HR, Finance & Accounts, and C&IT Teams.
Deloitte presented an overview of the system’s implementation, followed by a demo and training session. Assistant General Manager (HR) Rahul Tripathi shared insights on the rollout process. The first phase of the HCM system was virtually inaugurated on December 20, 2024, by SAIL Chairman Amarendu Prakash, in the presence of SAIL Director (Personnel) K.K. Singh.
The event concluded with Chief General Manager (HR) Hari Mohan Jha delivering a vote of thanks. Deputy General Manager (HR) N.K. Jha and Assistant Manager (HR) Pragati conducted the proceedings.
With this, BSL strengthens its digital HR framework and sets a benchmark for other PSUs in data security and workforce management.
