Accountant of Bansal One company was targeted by four armed masked miscreants robbed of Rs 2 lakh at Agarwal Sweets near Rachna Tower.
On Saturday evening, four masked individuals robbed an accountant at knifepoint in the Govindpura area of Bhopal, making off with a bag containing Rs 2 lakh.
Despite the police cordoning off the area immediately after the incident, the miscreants have not yet been traced.
Deepesh Joshi, a resident of Netaji Enclave Chunabhatti, works as an accountant at Bansal One Company.
Every Saturday, he carries cash to the company’s workshop in Ashoka Garden to distribute salaries.
On the evening of the robbery, Deepesh left his office at Rani Kamlapati Railway Station with Rs 2 lakh en route to the workshop.
When Deepesh reached Agarwal Sweets near Rachna Tower, he was surrounded by four miscreants riding two motorcycles. They threatened him with knives, snatched the bag, and fled the scene. Deepesh attempted to raise an alarm, but by the time anyone reacted, the robbers had already disappeared.
The police have formed four teams to investigate the case. Deepesh told the police that he routinely brings cash to pay the workers and had been carrying the money when the robbery occurred.
He mentioned that the miscreants blocked his path near the crematorium close to Agarwal Sweets, where they stole the bag containing Rs 2 lakh. The robbers had cloth tied around their faces, and Deepesh, fearing for his safety, did not resist and handed over the bag.
Police believe the robbers had recce the area before the crime, knowing Deepesh's routine of carrying large sums of money every Saturday.
The police are currently investigating former employees of the company and other potential suspects.
Govindpura ACP Deepak Nayak stated that the route taken by Deepesh has been divided into four parts for investigation, and four teams are reviewing CCTV footage. The police are confident that the culprits will be apprehended soon.
