Class 7 student barred from exam over pending fees, complaint filed

Wednesday, 12 March 2025 | Staff Reporter | Bhopal

A case has emerged in the state capital where a Class 7 student was allegedly denied permission to appear in his final examination due to pending school fees. The incident, involving Presidency School, DIG Bungalow, Bhopal, has been reported to the District Education Officer (DEO), with the student's father filing a formal complaint against the school administration.

According to the complaint submitted by Azimuddin, his son, Arsalan Uddin, was prevented from sitting for his examination on March 10, 2025, due to outstanding fees of Rs 1,500. He claimed that despite informing the school about the financial situation and already paying Rs 6,000, his son was denied entry into the examination hall.

In his complaint, Azimuddin further alleged that his son was physically assaulted, leaving him mentally distressed. He also stated that Arsalan has a pre-existing heart condition, which had been communicated to the school administration earlier. Despite this, the school allegedly not only barred him from the exam but also misbehaved with the child.

Responding to the allegations, District Education Officer N.K. Ahirwar stated, "If the school administration has indeed prevented the student from appearing in the exam due to non-payment of fees, it is completely unacceptable. The matter is being investigated, and appropriate action will be taken if the allegations are found to be true."

However, Presidency School Principal Insaf Khan denied the accusations, asserting that no student is ever barred from exams due to fees. He explained that the student was merely asked to call his parents but did not return. The principal also refuted claims of physical assault, stating that the school accommodates many students facing financial difficulties and has never deprived any student of their right to take an examination.

The matter is currently under investigation, and further action will be determined based on the findings.
