Bhopal to support farmers, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on Tuesday announced that the Madhya Pradesh government will procure moong and urad at Minimum Support Price (MSP) this season. Moong will be procured at Rs 8,682 per quintal in 36 moong-producing districts, while urad will be procured at Rs 7,400 per quintal in 13 designated districts. Farmers can register from June 19 to July 6, and procurement will take place from July 7 to August 6. The announcement was made during an address to Cabinet Ministers ahead of the cabinet meeting at the Mantralaya.
Dr. Yadav also outlined various ongoing efforts to promote investment and employment in the state. He informed that a regional industries and employment summit will be held in Ratlam on June 27 to mark MSME Day, while a national-level interactive session on MSMEs will take place in Ludhiana on July 7. These events are part of the government’s broader strategy to strengthen local industries and attract investment.
The Chief Minister said that the first phase of the Bhopal Metro is scheduled to be inaugurated in September, and a formal request will be made to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the inauguration ceremony. He also announced that beneficiaries of the Ladli Behna Yojana will receive an additional Rs 250 on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, as part of the state’s commitment to women’s welfare.
Highlighting the importance of International Yoga Day on June 21, Dr. Yadav stated that this year marks the completion of a decade of the global event.
To mark the occasion, a state-wide “Yog Sangam†program will be organized with an aim to set a national record for participation across urban bodies, wards, and panchayats in Madhya Pradesh.
During the address, the Chief Minister also noted that the state has witnessed a 19.6 percent increase in tourism over the past year. A total of 13.41 crore tourists, including 1.67 lakh foreign visitors, visited Madhya Pradesh in 2024, positioning the state as a rising hub for domestic and international tourism.
Concluding his address, Dr. Yadav directed ministers to actively review the welfare schemes under their departments and submit suggestions for improving their effectiveness. The announcements reflect the government’s ongoing focus on agricultural support, infrastructure development, tourism, and inclusive welfare policies.
