Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday attended multiple religious ceremonies across the Capital.
She prayed for peace, prosperity, and happiness in the lives of Delhi’s citizens. Participating in these gatherings, the Chief Minister said that while Sanatan Dharma forms the foundation of India’s cultural heritage, development and progress remain equally vital for the nation’s growth.
“Faith gives us peace, and progress gives us purpose,” she said, stressing that events rooted in spiritual tradition not only bring mental calm but also strengthen the bonds of communal harmony.”
“Among the major events attended by the Chief Minister were the Shrimad Bhagwat Katha Gyan Yagya and Kalash Yatra at Janmashtami Park in Punjabi Bagh, the Tulsi Vivah in Shalimar Bagh, and the Shyam Baba Janmotsav and Ekadashi Udyapan in Pitampura.
At Punjabi Bagh, the Chief Minister joined hundreds of devotees at the Shrimad Bhagwat Katha Gyan Yagya, where she received blessings from the presiding Guruji.
The accompanying Kalash Yatra witnessed large participation, particularly of women dressed in vibrant traditional attire, carrying sacred pots on their heads.
The streets were filled with chants of “Hare Ram, Hare Krishna”, creating an atmosphere of devotion and celebration.
Later in the day, the Chief Minister attended the Tulsi Vivah ceremony in Shalimar Bagh. Greeting the people of Delhi on the occasion, she prayed for every household to be blessed with health, happiness, and prosperity. “May Goddess Tulsi and Lord Shaligram bless every family with peace and harmony,” she said.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister said the festival beautifully symbolises the faith of women, the strength of families, and the unity of society.
“Such celebrations are not only religious occasions but also reminders of the values that guide our lives, like truth, service, and devotion,” she said.
The Chief Minister emphasised that Delhi’s identity rests on two equally strong pillars, progress and culture.
“Our city’s strength lies not only in roads, schools, and technology but also in its spiritual roots. The values of compassion, unity, and devotion are the soul of Delhi,” she said.
At the Shyam Baba Janmotsav in Pitampura, the Chief Minister interacted with devotees and joined prayers marking the occasion of Ekadashi Udyapan. She praised the organisers for keeping spiritual traditions alive in the heart of a fast-changing city. “Faith and development must go hand in hand,” she said.
The Chief Minister appealed to citizens to continue fostering the spirit of love, service, and devotion in everyday life. “Our festivals teach us not just to worship but to work selflessly for the good of others,” she said.
“If every citizen embraces these values, Delhi will not only shine in progress but also glow with humanity,” she added.
