Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday expressed sorrow over the death of three persons in a fire that broke out in a slum near AGCR Colony, East Delhi and extended financial assistance of `10 Lakh to each bereaved family. She also visited the affected site to meet the bereaved families, offering condolences and assuring them of all possible assistance from the government.

During her visit, the Chief Minister engaged with the victims, gathered firsthand information regarding the incident, and assessed the extent of the damage. She reasserted that as soon as the authorities received information about the fire, firefighting teams were immediately deployed to contain the situation and mitigate further damage.

Expressing her grief over the incident, she stated that the government deeply sympathises with the affected families, who hailed from Auraiya district in Uttar Pradesh.

While consoling families, Gupta said, “My deepest condolences to all the affected families. A poor family struggles to build a home, and such tragedies completely shatter their spirit. I pray for the peace of the departed souls for strength to the bereaved families.

 While we cannot undo their loss, the Delhi government will extend all possible support to them. Families of the deceased will receive Rs 10 Lakh each as financial assistance from the government.”

She further assured that the Delhi Government is committed to providing necessary support to the affected families and has instructed the concerned authorities to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
